Obamacrats Plan for Debt

In what has so many shaking their heads and wondering just what is going in Washington D.C., the Heritage Foundation absolutely shreds the democrats stimulus bill and brings up a lot of issues concerning their plan. I have copied it below.

With countless news stories, papers, editorials and experts giving their view of why Congress should or shouldn’t enact the Pelosi-Reid-Obama Debt Plan, we thought it would be helpful to give you a short index of why spending does not equal stimulus.

HIGH COST TO AMERICAN TAXPAYERS

  • After Congress appropriates the FY’09 omnibus bill, they may have spent over $1.4 Trillion in less than one month!
The current “stimulus bill” will be the LARGEST SPENDING BILL EVER enacted by Congress, making the New Deal look small, accounting for inflation.
  • The “Stimulus” Bills Your Family – $825 Billion is equivalent to borrowing $10,520 from EVERY FAMILY IN AMERICA. This money has to be paid back.
  • If all families were asked to equally shoulder the burden of $825 Billon, this debt would be equivalent to what they roughly spend on food, clothing, and health care in an entire year.
  • If Government Spending solved recessions, we would never have recessions.

BAD IDEAS – “THE DEVIL IN DISGUISE”
The hidden liberal policy agenda inside the ‘stimulus bill’…

  • Over $142 Billion in Federal education funds: Nearly double the total outlays for the Dept. of Education in 2007 – making good on Reid-Pelosi-Obama education promises to the NEA.
  • $87 Billion Medicaid bailout: Medicaid is funded by a formula that matches state spending levels with federal dollars. If we keep bailing states out, they will have every incentive to continue irresponsible spending. Fiscally responsible taxpayers in Indiana are now paying for fiscally irresponsible bureaucrats in Illinois.
  • Expanded Medicaid coverage and SCHIP: Reid-Pelosi-Obama are enacting a nationalized health care policy with no debate. The government will soon be responsible for more health care spending than the private sector, i.e. socialized medicine.
  • Green Jobs?: The myth of ‘green jobs’ merely means replacing one job lost, with a new job that fits the left’s agenda. It is a zero sum game. More than doubling spending, the stimulus also has over $35 billion for the Dept. of Energy. DOE’s current budget is $23.8 billion.
  • Family Planning and birth control for children, immigrants and the wealthy, which could also be used as a backdoor to allow federal funding of abortions. How is this stimulus?  **UPDATE: Nancy Pelosi agrees this is not stimulus and has removed it from the bill proving these measures are allergic to sunshine.**
  • Redistribution: Refundable Tax Credits for people who don’t pay taxes.
  • Pork Spending: Digital TV Coupons ($650 Million), Gov’t Cars ($600 Million), Nat’l Endowment for the Arts ($50 Million), Repairs to National Mall ($200 Million, including $21m for sod).

BAD RESULTS

  • No Jobs: While they have not been able to support these claims, Pelosi/Obama promise between 3 & 4 million jobs, yet House Tax Committee staff can’t estimate even ONE job will be created.
  • Ineffective: The Congressional Budget Office estimates that only 52% of the spending in the ‘stimulus bill’ can even be spent by the end of FY’10.  Well short of the 75% benchmark set by President Obama.

“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work.” – FDR’s Treasury Sec. Henry Morgenthau Jr., architect of the New Deal.

BETTER IDEAS AND RESULTS

  1. Make the 2001 and 2003 Tax Cuts permanent, instead of raising taxes in 2011; Reduce Marginal Tax Rates for  Individuals and Businesses by 10% creating new jobs. Adopting just this one proposal would create between 500,000 and 1 million jobs in one year.
  2. Repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax & reduce the Death Tax to 15% ($5 mil. individual exclusion) Enact long-term reforms and budgets for entitlement spending., putting long-term obligations from Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, front and center in the budget process.
  3. Assess and enforce long term spending rules in Congress. Get us out of debt!
  4. Go to Heritage.org for more ideas and ways to avoid giving Americans a debt they didn’t create.

Thank you to the Heritage Foundation for the above material.

Great Video Using Democrats Own Words On Crisis

Here is another must see video concerning the financial situation we are currently enduring. This is yet one more piece of evidence showing who really is responsible for the mess we are in financially.

Obama's Friend Has Feds Raid His Office

Could it be that democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has yet another personal friend in trouble with the Feds? The answer is YES! According to reports, the FBI raided the offices of Obama's friend, Illinois state senator Larry Walsh, on Wednesday morning. Walsh has been a long time friend of Obama and even Obama's chief of staff Matt Ryan. The Feds didn't disclose what they were looking for but did remain in the office for about an hour. Mr. Walsh, who served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2005, was endorsed by Mr. Obama in his county executive election bid. With the support of some of Mr. Obama's U.S. Senate volunteers, he easily defeated incumbent Republican Joseph Mikan. For more information go to http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/03/fbi-raids-obama-friends-office/

How many of Obama's relationships have to be called into question before the American people wake up to the fact he is nothing more than a product of corrupt Chicago/Illinois politics? Apparently he is not only a man of questionable and limited experience but also a man incapable of making smart critical judgements about the people he associates with.

Got Socialism?

For a time now, I have tried to bring the threat of socialism to the forefront of political discussions much to the dismay of many family and friends. One major problem encountered during said discussions is the lack of knowledge concerning the issues, specifically socialism. Those who have elected to remain in the dark concerning politics, our history, and just how we have arrived at this point in our history, have left the finer details to self-interested politicians in a far away city. So whenever a discussion turns to politics and one is engaged with those I have described above, the task of not coming across as "preachy" and snobbish, almost elitist, is a difficult one indeed.

The recent financial troubles in our country have done nothing but allow socialism to creep into our system of self-government as a cure all to our problems. I actually feel somewhat vindicated. The threat of socialism that I have spoken of for so long has finally made its way to the forefront of government to the extent that no one could dare call it something else. Or can they? This "bailout" is nothing more than socialism and the nationalization of businesses. The American people have been asleep so long as to the realities of the situation that most are letting the government do what they do best, screw things up. If we allow this "bailout", where will it stop? Soon, we will be attempting to "bailout" credit card companies, oil companies, health insurance companies, etc., and the march to socialism will continue unabated and promulgated by an apathetic and uneducated electorate. The sad truth is government created the problems we face today and it is the direct result of the American people turning a blind eye to the expansion of government and the acceptance of that government to provide us with everything from our basic human rights to a retirement plan. Our government exceeded the Founding Fathers vision of limited government a long time ago and now we are paying the price for letting government into areas it was never designed to be a part of. Ladies and gentleman, government is the problem! Limited regulation is necessary, as long as it is limited. Free market principles are the only way to right the ship. You cannot have years of government interference into the markets and still call them  free markets. Moreover, you then cannot blame so-called free markets when they fail. They failed because of the government interference.

Some are at least calling this what it is I invite you to read Alan Keyes account. We must call this what it is, socialism, and stop it before its too late. http://www.americasrevival.com/articles/080925bailout.php

Important Ads and Political Musings....

For anyone supporting John McCain, the first two days of the Democratic National Convention in Denver have been about as good as one could have hoped. With big speeches by Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton out of the way, perhaps the democrats can now focus on things that matter, like real issues. I think its time for the democrats and specifically Barack Obama to tell us what he has in mind when it comes to this "change" he so nauseatingly talks about. And speaking of "change", has anyone noticed Michelle's backtracking and how her and all the other speakers have been talking about America as the land of opportunity and how this great country has afforded them the chance at becoming anything they dared dream about? With all these rosy little stories of accomplishment the feature thus far, do we dare, as rational beings, beg to ask, "Then why "change" anything at all?" Surely the democrats have noticed the hypocrisy of their message, right? They incessantly tell us everything in this country was bad, is bad, or is about to go bad, all the while refusing to acknowledge that these successes they champion were achieved during these same "bad" times they love to tell us about? Apparently America isn't such a bad place afterall?

The last days of the convention will be a huge test for Obama, as polls show his announcement of Joe Biden for his vice presidential running mate has garnered him zero points. The McCain camp has already seized on the contradictory statements Biden has made in the past concerning Obama and his legitimacy for the office of president. This McCain video really nails Obama as Biden implys that we cannot afford an inexperienced senator to be learning on the job.

McCain's camp didn't miss a beat with Hillary and her big night as well. They managed to dig up some footage of her telling it like it is. These adds are almost impossible to defend and it should be fun watching their attempts to save face. Here are some of Hillary's stinging comments:

More Proof of Government Healthcare Failures

If anyone needs more proof that whatever government touches it destroys, look no further than the example of the socialized government healthcare plans currently in existence around the world. All of them are miserable failures proving once again there is nothing the government can do more economically or efficiently than the private sector. Just look at their record; Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, education, FEMA, are just a few examples.Yet there are those in this country who feel despite the failures of other nations programs and our own governmnets ability to screw up everything it touches, this is exactly what we need in this country.

Here are two articles from Great Britain about the so-called "benefits" of goverment sponsored healthcare. I would encourage one and all to give them a good look to see what we will have waiting for us if the liberals (socialists) have their way.

Obama'a Tax Increase The Highest Ever

The Democrat's (socialists) notion that "all things European would be just fine for America", would no doubt continue and expand under a president Obama. It doesn't matter how unsuccessful a policy it might be, if the Europeans are doing it, we must do it. Democrats are all smiles about saddling the American taxpayers with more taxes in order to pay for "universal health care", a system that has been shown to be a complete failure wherever it has been implemented but hey, why let other's failures be your guide? The same thing holds true for Obama's plan to put us at European levels of taxation and give the nation the largest tax increase in our history. Obama and his socialist cronies believe the best way to help the economy is to tax productivity. They still don't understand the way a free market should work as indicated by their continued government regulation policies and interference. The poor do not create jobs nor maintain much productivity in the work force as many opt for public aid and welfare systems with the incentive to leave such programs no longer relevant. The Democrats hammering those who create jobs and wealth for others will only hurt the ones they have tried to help, the poor. They contend the best way to help people is from the bottom - up instead of top - down which is not only economically wrong but economically dangerous for the rest of us. Lets look at what Obama is promising as far as taxes are concerned.

Obama has stated many times he will let the Bush tax cuts expire. This will allow the top two tax rates to return to 36 and 39.6 percent. His plan would boost the top marginal rate to well over 55 percent—before the inclusion of state and local taxes—resulting in many individuals seeing their marginal tax rate double. The Heritage Foundation explains it this way, "Senator Obama's new tax rate would give the United States one of the highest tax rates among developed countries. Currently only six of the top 30 industrial nations have a tax rate for all levels of government combined of over 55 percent. Under this tax plan, the United States would join this group and have a higher top rate than such high-tax nations as Sweden and Denmark. The top marginal rate would exceed 60 percent with the inclusion of state and local taxes, which means that only Hungary would exceed Senator Obama's new proposed top tax."  But what is truly frightening is that of the six countries with higher tax rates than 55 percent, the average unemployment rate is 7.35 percent. Plus his tax plan adds to the national debt and will leave us even more unprepared to handle America's rising cost of entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare. Here are some quick numbers showing the impact of the tax cuts and the repercussions of them expiring:

$2.4 Trillion- The overall tax increase faced by American families, seniors, and businesses if the Bush tax cuts expire.

$1,716- The average tax increase for over 100 million Americans if tax cuts are allowed to expire.

$2,034- The average tax increase that will hit 17 million seniors if the Bush tax cuts expire.

8.3 Million- The number of jobs created since the tax cuts of 2003.

$91 Billion- The cost of reinstating the death tax.

44 million- The number of married couples affected if the Marriage Penalty is reinstated.

$1,480- The average cost in 2000 for cuples punished by the Marriage Penalty

$108 Billion- The reduction in the federal deficit in 2005 thanks to the economic growth sparked by the tax cuts.

No doubt Obama's plan will slow the economy to a crawl and definitely send us into a recession. The question is can we get this news to the masses before the election in November? I think we can. We just need to keep on the offensive.

Haditha Marines Had No Access To Courts

For anyone who would like to see the distinct differences in the way our own soldiers are treated as compared to the enemy combatants captured and currently detained at Gitmo, look no further than the circus trials of the Marines accused of murder in Haditha. To recap, eight United States Marines have been put through military tribunals for allegedly killing 24 civilians in Haditha and as of this writing, six of the Marines have had charges dismissed and a seventh was cleared through a court martial. An eighth is awaiting his turn but seeing as how the previous seven went, he too is expected to have all charges dropped and rightfully so. The latest to have charges dropped is Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani. Chessani has hinted at possibly suing Pennsylvania Democrat Represenative John Murtha who claimed the Marines murdered "in cold blood". Not only was Murtha's comments absurd, they were made with no knowledge of the entire situation. Murtha decided to convict the Marines before knowing exactly what was factual and what was just hearsay. Murtha, a former Marine himself, is currently and deservedly being sued by the last Marine to not yet have been cleared through the military tribunal process. But what should jump out at the average American is that thanks to the recent Supreme Court ruling, the enemy terrorist combatants in Gitmo have access to the American courts to detest their detentions when the above Marines never had that luxury.

The repercussions of the Supreme Court decision to allow enemy combatants access to our Constitution will be seen for years to come. For some unknown and mysterious reason, the left in this country view the war on terror as a law enforcement problem and this latest decision shows just how they think it should be handled. Now soldiers have to worry about collecting evidence and reading Miranda rights to people who indescriminately kill women and children, and wear no uniform of any nation. These enemy combatants have been captured taking up arms against the United States and now the very system they openly abhor has opened up its arms and welcomed them into our judicial system. How can we, as a nation, allow this right to our enemies but not our own soldiers?

We have been dealt a huge blow in our ability to effectively wage war on our enemies. No longer capturing an enemy will ensure they are out of the equation when it comes to warfare. To date, 50 former Gitmo prisoners have been released and found fighting again against the United States. You can bet that these numbers will increase thanks to the Supreme Court decision and unfortunately, more American lives will be lost.

No Brains, No Energy

There are varying opinions as to why oil and gas prices are so astronomically high. Most deal with unrealistic scenarios and outright lies concerning the quandary we are currently in. As usual, a majority of politicians are playing the blame game and want to accuse the other of contributing to the high energy prices. But the truth is far more interesting than all the finger pointing. The economic law of supply and demand is the greatest reason. The world's demand for energy is at an all time high and continues to grow every single day. The supply has not been able to keep up with the demand and therefore, the price goes up. There are various reasons why the supply has not been able to keep up with the demand. Whether it be attacks on supply lines, middle east turmoil, weather related delays, or OPEC's decisions to keep supply consistent by insisting supply should not be increased, supply is low compared to demand. But one of the main reasons the supply has been kept down, specifically in this country, has been the environmental protections placed on oil rich lands in ANWR and off the coasts of the continental United States. These environmental groups are heavy hitters within liberal circles and have been driving the current global warming "crisis". But some blame goes to some ill-fated decisions by republicans as well as the democrats (socialists). After all, it was George H.W. Bush who, in 1990, signed a directive order preventing off shore oil exploration and drilling. The same directive was renewed again by president Clinton in 1998 who extended the order to 2012. The good news is that current president Bush has said he will lift the ban if Congress will okay the off shore exploration and drilling.

But to dole out equal blame to both parties for the current situation concerning our domestic oil and energy is a little unfair and frankly, not true. The reduction in refineries and the environmental restrictions placed on ANWR have been the direct result of the left and their appeasement to the "green" lobbyists. Simply put, the biggest reason the oil supply is down in this country is due to the democrats crazy environmental policies. Yet even today, given the high prices at the pump, they will still not allow the supply to increase so we can have some relief. Barack Obama has stated that we cannot drill our way out of the problem. I have to say that I finally agree with something the man has said.... he's right. But where Obama is wrong is that this drilling would provide us some relief until we have developed and perfected alternative fuels to replace our dependency on oil. Besides, the oil would be from within our borders and not from the middle east or Central America, reducing our dependency on foreign oil, the mantra of the left for the last decade. The people of this nation, and specifically the members of Congress, need to realize there is no magic quick fix for ending our dependency on oil. We are an oil nation and our entire economy is based off of the use of oil for energy. In fact, there is not one sector of the economy that is not effected by high oil prices.

The Department of Interior has released a statement about the new domestic oil and gas finds in which it said "estimates put the amount of energy in these off-limits areas at 19.1 billion barrels of oil and 83.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas—approximately 30 years' worth of imports from Saudi Arabia and enough natural gas to power America's homes for 17 years. It should also be noted that these initial estimates tend to be low."  Can we not use these sources now so we can have some relief and get the economy rolling again? What would be wrong with using all the sources of energy we have to help out the average American while we work on perfecting alternative energy sources? The democrats deserve most of the blame for our crisis by implementing Big-Government regulations that have prevented energy companies from tapping America's bountiful natural resources.

The only plan I have heard from democrats concerning a solution to the crisis we face is a "windfall profits tax" on the oil companies. Can anyone explain to me how more money in the hands of the government helps us pay less and ultimately gives us relief at the pumps? (Boy, if you let a democrat talk long enough, they will prove your point for you.) This plan is laughable at best and shows the democrats inability to understand the basic economic principle of supply and demand.

And don't be surprised to see your "earthy-crunchy" green environmental friends doing handstands at the thought of high gas prices at the pump. All those "pick-up truck driving conservatives" they abhor are getting what they deserve, a popular consensus throughout coffee shops and college campuses the world over. They think they can get us off oil to save "mother earth" from global warming by watching us all pay through the nose for a fill-up. The Heritage Foundation says it best: "The most important thing to remember as the debate over energy prices becomes a major issue in 2008 is that liberals want Americans to pay higher energy prices. That is why they sue to stop natural gas drilling in Wyoming, new refineries in South Dakota and coal power plants nationwide . The whole purpose of the Lieberman-Warner carbon capping bill was to increase the cost of energy to force Americans to use less of it. But now Americans are beginning to catch on to the left’s game, and they are not happy." In fact here is the link to The Heritage Foundations comments on 3 liberal myths concerning the lefts new message when it comes to oil: http://blog.heritage.org/2008/06/20/morning-bell-holding-the-left-accoubtable-on-energy-prices/

More government interference and regulations along with higher taxes on oil companies is definitely not the answer to our problems. We need to increase the supply in order to offset our demand and only then will Americans feel any sort of real relief at the pumps.

Here is a great link to a story about what democrats (socialists) think is the best solution to our gas prices. Guess what..... it has something to do with more and bigger government! http://www.foxnews.com/urgent_queue/index.html#a54ef44,2008-06-18

Political Musings......

As usual, I feel it important to pass along good information. Here are some great articles and links to cover some interesting topics including the war on terror and the democrats (socialists). I have also included some great quotes as well. Enjoy!

“Congress is spending us into a hole. We hear about the cost of earmarks and the Iraq war. But what about ‘entitlements’? That’s the government’s ironic term for programs that transfer money from people who earned it to people who didn’t. Entitlement? How can you be entitled to someone else’s money? To finance ‘entitlement’ programs, the government threatens force against the taxpayers who provide the money. Why are people who favor compulsion called humanitarians, while those who favor freedom are stigmatized as greedy?... What we really need is a top-to-bottom freeing of the economy, including the health-care industry, and massive cuts in government both spending and taxes. This would leave us wealthy enough to take care of ourselves, with private charity assisting those who can’t manage.” —John Stossel

On being CONSERVATIVE...read this!

“I would define a conservative, first as one who believes in the Constitution as it is written. That takes care of free speech, freedom of religion, the right to petition the government, the right to keep and bear arms and, in the words of William O. Douglas in one of his saner moments, ‘the right to be let alone. Second, a conservative believes in small, limited government at every level. Along with this he believes strongly in individual responsibility. That is, a person or a family should take care of itself and turn for help to government only when all other means have been exhausted. It also means that society, before government, has a duty to take care of its own. Government should be a resource of last resort. Third, a conservative believes taxes should be levied for the purpose of financing the limited responsibilities of government such as providing for the common defense, catching and incarcerating criminals, minting money and filling potholes. Taxes should not be levied for the purpose of redistributing wealth... One other thing I think a conservative believes is that the parents, not government, are and should be responsible for the upbringing and behavior of their children.” —Lyn Nofziger

Here is an article that is so important, it should be passed on to everyone. The information that is put forth by the democrats (socialists) is one of half truths and outright lies. This article should be read by everyone who wishes to have an open and honest debate concerning the war Iraq and its justifications. It can be found at http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-kirchick16-2008jun16,0,4808346.story

John Yoo has written one of the best commentaries on the recent Supreme Court decision to allow the "detainees" (prisoners of war) the right to the civilian courts to protest their incarceration. A right, by the way, that our own military does not have. The article is called The Supreme Court Goes To War and it is a must read. It can be found at: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121366596327979497.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries

In one of the more honest approaches to the war in Iraq, The Economist tells how Iraq is becoming more stable. Just this morning I was reading about countries investing in Iraq because public opinion has turned and the situation is improving. For those of you who don't know, we are winning the war on terror. The article is again a must read and can be found at http://www.economist.com/opinion/displayStory.cfm?Story_ID=11535688

Hillary....To The Dustbin of History

Oh Hillary......we hardly knew thee. Oh how I wish that was true. The truth is we have known Hillary and her husband Bill for quite a while now. And after the defeat at the hands of Barack Obama in the democratic presidential primary, one cannot help but wonder if the American political spectrum is about to be void of the former first couple? Bill gave a hint of the his impending departure from the public eye just before the final state primaries in which the final nail was hammered into his wife Hillary's campaign. But can we assume ol' Bill is telling the truth? I think so. I think Bill has had enough. He has seen his standing and legacy as the democrats best president since Kennedy go up in smoke due to gaffe after gaffe on the campaign trail. No longer are they the "can't do wrong" Clinton's. In fact, I have seen loyal Clinton democrats turn their backs on them as they have fallen under the spell of Obama, and that is something I thought I would never see. Suddenly all the claims and bad discretions of past scandals seem to hold water now to the same people who just about a year ago would have gone to bat for the Clinton's on any issue and fight to the end to honor the Clinton name. Oh, how the times have changed.

It is well that this is the outcome for the Clinton's. Soon we will be rid of them. Bill will continue whatever it is that he does and Hillary will continue on the fake relationship with the state of New York and perhaps seek another term as senator but as national politics are concerned, they are finished. Obama will never ask her to be his VP so I wouldn't be worried about that. But with her loss, the democrats have given the Clinton's a backstabbing send off, worthy of just what they have given the American people.

My Run -In With Obama

In January of 2007, my brother and I were traveling home and sitting at a traffic light on Jackson and Loomis in the great city of Chicago. As we were sitting there discussing the days events, I happened to be looking over at one of the local businesses, a camera shop, when the door swung open and a tall, lean, and lanky man walked out of the shop and began fumbling with something in his hand. I immediately recognized the man before me as one Barack Obama, our democratic senator who was more well known for a political speech in 2004 than anything else. I alerted my brother to whose presence we were lucky enough to embrace and said, "Hey there's Barack Obama!" I rolled the window down and yelled to the senator from the Soviet satellite state of Illinois, "Hey, Barack!" The senator raised his head and for a brief moment forgot about his task, as he raised his hand to wave to us and shout "What's up?" The senator continued on and began fumbling again with whatever it was he had in his hand, the light turned green, and we continued on our way home.

We sat in silence for a moment when finally I said, "Its hard to believe but we may have just seen the future President of the United States." See, I knew the democratic party was grooming this well spoken black man for a future shot at the presidency. But what I didn't know then was that it would be so soon. I had heard the speech he gave at the democratic (socialist) national convention as the key note speaker and knew how prestigious an honor it was to be able to address a national audience. But not in my wildest dreams did I think the young and inexperienced senator from Illinois was going to join the next fight for the highest office in the land.

There are many times when I see Obama on the television or hear a clip on the radio and I am reminded of our brief encounter. There was no security or secret service around him, no screaming mobs of fans swooning at every blink of his eye, no one fighting to touch him or take his picture, no fainting women, no one...............no one. See, the senator didn't need the security then because he was largely unknown to the common man who doesn't pay too much attention to the political world. But only a year and a half later, he is one of two men who stand before the doorway to history and will only get to enter the doorway if the American people welcome him in this November 4th.

How could it be that a man who was relatively an unknown a year and a half ago, a man who has some questionable relationships with racist preachers, a man who has said he would end the war in Iraq regardless of what the generals have to say, a man who has a questionable voting history in the U.S. Senate when he was there,  and a whole host of other questions, be on the brink of capturing the Presidency of the United States? And whats more frustrating is that we are chastised by liberals and Obama's supporters for trying to find out a little more about a man who came out of political obscurity to be the front runner for the office. The fact is we need to find out as much about Obama as we can. He doesn't have the long career in politics that John McCain has had so there is very little to go off. I think if the American people dig a little deeper to see what Barack Obama stands for, they will run from him like a collapsing, burning building. We just need to dig.

More Political Musings......

1)  While I think most of us conservatives differ tremendously with our socialist (democrats) counterparts, it is important to pass on great quotes or statements concerning the liberals ability to not be able to see the forest for the trees. We begin with a great quote from The Heritage Foundation's economist J.D. Foster, when he says this about the democrats:

“They propose higher tobacco taxes to discourage smoking. They propose higher taxes on liquor to discourage drinking. They propose vastly higher taxes through cap-and-trade contraptions to reduce carbon emissions. So what do they expect will happen when they raise income tax rates?”

Having said all of that, The Patriot Post covers the news concerning our democratically controlled houses of Congress with this:

"Democrats in the House and Senate passed the $3.1-trillion 2009 budget plan this week, a nonbinding resolution, as they patted themselves on the back for their fiscal responsibility. Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-ND) boasted that the budget plan would “strengthen the economy and create jobs. It will provide tax cuts for the middle class, and it will restore fiscal responsibility by balancing the books by 2012 and maintaining balance in 2013.” The fine print reveals the secret to this promise. The plan assumes that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost nothing after next year. It also anticipates that the Bush tax cuts will expire by 2011. In other words, Democrats are about to hit Americans with the largest tax hike in history. And that doesn’t include the Alternative Minimum Tax, which Democrats continue to ignore as it prepares to hit more than 20 million middle-class families."

2)   I feel it important once again to draw attention to the fact we are destroying Al Qaeda around the world. But in spite of the many accomplishments of our wonderful men and women in our Armed Forces, Nancy Pelosi had the unbelievable gall to utter the following:

“Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal, and some of the success of the surge is the good will of the Iranians—they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities—the Iranians.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

3)    In another show of weakness and appeasement, Great Britain refused to stand up for its culture and Christian heritage by telling two Christian evangelicals to stop handing out leaflets in a Muslim neighborhood or face the threat of being beat up. Now here is where the story gets confusing because British authorities seem to be saying they are not willing to get involved should the Christians get attacked by Muslims. In fact, it almost sounds as if they are saying they would deserve the attack. Am I wrong or is this appeasement?

Success Despite The Democrats

I awoke this morning to some of the best news one could hear when it comes to the safety and well-being of our nation. An article in today's Washington Post finally reveals some good news about the United States battle against terror. While there has been a lot of good news on the war on terror, this is the first big article in a while to grace a mainstream liberal newspaper. This is indeed good news and should be passed along to as many as possible. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/29/AR2008052904116_pf.html

We need to continue the fight and not be satisfied by just winning. We need to keep our resolve and destroy Al Qaeda completely. This country and all the free world will be safer when this fascism has been swept into the dust bin of history.
